An empty plate for consumers

The world produces enough food for everyone, but 852 million people worldwide do not have enough to eat.

It’s the mother in Chad who can’t feed her malnourished baby.  The father in Ethiopia who can’t put food on the table because of drought and bad harvests.  Families in Bangladesh left with nothing after one of the most devastating floods in decades.

Meanwhile, in America, we throw away $75 billion in food each year.  Clearly, most of us have more than enough.  We do our best, but at one time or another, all of us are unintentionally wasteful.

But we have the power to change all that.  By eating just a little less, we can feed millions more people.  That is the power and the promise of the Empty Plate campaign.

We are asking people all across the country to say “No, thank you” together. To take the cost of a plate of food and donate it to Concern Worldwide US. There is no organization better equipped to provide innovative and practical solutions to hunger. Concern has been doing this for 40 years.  We can put food in the hands of the people who need it most.

Together, we can provide real hope.

It’s an empty plate.
It’s a day without waste.
It’s a way to make “no” the most positive response on earth.
